Amidst a bonhomie, invitation sent to hundreds and thousands and a week long festivity culminating in a marriage of two distant souls. All arranged strictly by the elders in families. The couple have never met before. Not a word spoken. Pushed into a bed overnight with a whole lot of family guarding the door near the bed. One should live in a joint family from the day next. All their life. You’re allowed only to enjoy a limited private time with your partner. I shall call it an ‘affair’ with one’s own wife. And it’s traditional here in India.

Think of Brazil. A football legend’s name comes up. He’s none other than Pele.
Three-time World Cup champion. 1279 goals to his credit. It’s a Guinness World Record.
Intentional Player of the Century. FIFA player of the Century. And more.
But we are not talking about Pele here.
Kaka is another popular player from Brazil. He formed part of the team which won the World Cup for Brazil in 2002.
He married his childhood friend Caroline Celica in 2005. They were living happily for 10 years before his wife announced divorce in 2015.
What did she say the reason for the break-up?
The social media were outraged at what she did say.
She said; “Kaka never cheated on me, he always treated me well. He gave me a wonderful family, but I wasn’t happy.
Something was missing”.
She said Kaka was too perfect for her.
A husband as good and perfect as Kaka was too good for a wife. And that means a complete man or perfection in a man can still split a pair.
How ironical!
When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When we were five, we were mostly dreamers. A dreamer with eyes wide open. A dreamer deep asleep.
I was too young to think of what I would become as I was told a lot of stories about animals and characters in cartoons. I lived purely in an imaginary world. A fairy tale life, to be precise.
I enjoyed listening to those stories and I imagined I would one day go meet them really and want to spend time with them.
Some stories wouldn’t end well as characters were chased and put to death. That gave me nightmares.
I remember I asked my parents one day if I could stop people killing animals. My parents told me that I should then become a forest officer, wear a uniform, carry a gun and travel in an open jeep. All day and night. A life in the wilderness.
That’s when I imagined I would be an officer who was out and about helping save the animals.
That gave me pleasure. I thought I would bring those animals home, live with them in the comfort of my parents, brothers and sister.
A happy cartoon family was what I wanted.
Who are your favorite people to be around?
I shall hang around always with my family, friends and my pet. They are my favorite people on Earth.
